This past week we've been enjoying a brief hiatus from Ibste. With just a little less than a month before classes begin again it's been a nice time to relax and regroup. And in good form, we've also both taken advantage of the time to finish off a few books that had remained on the shelf awaiting consumption.
As for myself, I just finished reading an enlightening book on the Arab-Israeli/Six Day War of June 1967, and found it extremely helpful in better understanding the current situation there. I'm not generally one to offer book recommendations, but considering the ever increasing focus on the region, you can't go wrong.
Michael B. Oren writes with extreme detail but manages to keep you intrigued in the story-line of how it unfolded then and how it has shaped the present. If you're interested, check it out and enjoy.

Welcome to Ibste
Ver mapa más grande
This is pretty cool. I just recently discovered that Ibste had it´s own street view, so now you can see where I work. Just above the skinny white sign with the red square is my office, and if you look close I´m actually waving at the camera. . .(well not quite). If you swing the camera around to the left on the other side of the street you´ll see the residency and continuing left you´ll find more of our homes for couples and of course then there´s the pool. Also another cool detail is the tower located on top of the hill/mountain right above Ibste´s residency. It´s pretty old they say, but then who really knows.
Studies begin in August Heat!
The Liu´s addition came just a few days before the arrival of the Chinese students. This year Cbse will have 8 new students bringing us to a total of 24 Chinese students in all! This not only means larger class sizes for Cbse but also that our residency is filling up. By October we could have nearly 40 students total as well as 3 volunteers from Germany to help serve the students needs. We will have a full house but are continuing to pray for more Spanish students. So far we have 5 new students confirmed and a handful more waiting on visas but would love to see more coming to study with us this fall. Please keep them in your prayers.
Arrivals from the land down under!
Speaking of landing in new territories! (wait what were we talking about?) Just a few weeks ago Ibste received the Lau family all the way from Australia. Dr. Timothy Lau was previously the director for the Chinese Department at the Bible College of Victory located in Melbourne and just 6 months ago after a brief visit to our campus made the decision to move his entire family to Spain! Timothy´s past experience and youthfulness are a great fit for his role as dean of Cbse. We are very thankful for the fresh perspectives and energy which they have brought to campus.

Friday Night BBQ in Castelldefels
Musica Gitana from robisnonbrooks on Vimeo.
After enjoying the all you can eat barbecue, Paco agreed to sing us a few songs. This song talks about how every thing in this life has it's time and we are called to enjoy the moment in which we are living today, not by our own logic but through our God who gives meaning to it all. Enjoy. And clap along if you want. . .Tuesday, August 04, 2009
